Dedication
to Messiah
Messiah,
There will come a day when you will want to understand more about your mother — not just how she passed, but who she was.
Your mother, Amber, was light. She was strong. She was laughter. And above everything else, she was love. You were her greatest joy. From the moment you were born, you became her whole world. She spoke about you with pride. She protected you fiercely. She loved you endlessly.
When we lost her, we lost a piece of our hearts. But you did not lose her love. That love lives inside you.
This Foundation was created so that her name would never fade, and so that her life would continue to protect other mothers and families. It was built out of grief, yes — but even more, it was built out of love. Love for her. Love for you.
I cannot give you back your mother. If I could, I would in a heartbeat. But I can give you her legacy. I can make sure that when people speak her name, they speak it with honor. I can make sure that her story changes lives.
You are her greatest legacy. You carry her strength, her spirit, and her light. And everything we build in her name is also for you — so you will always know how much she mattered, and how much you matter.
Never doubt that you are deeply loved.
Never doubt that her life had purpose.
And never doubt that you are surrounded by family who will always stand beside you.
With all my heart,
Grammie
A Dedication
to Family, Friends, and
All Who Carry Amber’s Legacy
This Foundation is also dedicated to the family, friends, and loved ones of Amber Nicole Thurman — and to every person who has stood beside us in grief, in strength, and in purpose.
Amber was deeply loved. She was a daughter, a mother, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, and a friend. She left fingerprints on hearts everywhere she went. The outpouring of love, prayers, support, and commitment to honor her life has been a source of strength beyond words.
To those who have spoken her name, and continue to speak her name, shared her story, and continue to share her story, organized, advocated, prayed, marched, written, and work tirelessly to ensure her life is remembered — this work belongs to you, too.
Grief brought us together, but love keeps us moving forward.
The Amber Thurman Foundation Inc. exists not only because of loss, but because of community. Because of people who refuse to let Amber’s name fade. Because of those who believe her life carries meaning beyond tragedy.
Her legacy is carried in every act of courage, every conversation sparked, and every step taken toward justice and dignity for families everywhere.
With gratitude and enduring love,
Shanette Williams
